The County of Sutherland is unique in having 3 coasts East, West and North and the county town of Dornoch is ideally situated with many centres of interest within a 2 hour car trip. Close at hand is Golspie where you can visit the world famous Dunrobin Castle and enjoy the facilities at the Sutherland Swimming Pool Complex.

You can watch the Salmon leap at the Falls of Shin and a few miles further on visit the Ferrycroft Visitors Centre near Lairg and experience an audio-visual journey into the past to discover the peoples who lived here hundreds and thousands of years ago.

Travelling north towards Caithness you pass through Brora and Helmsdale where you can visit The Timespan Centre run by the Helmsdale Heritage Society. Caithness has an attractive wild coastline and day trips to the Orkney Islands are available from Scrabster and John O'Groats.
